  • Scanning Coordinator

Introducing new technology in construction services

D-Drill is a long established specialist subcontractor in the construction sector, supplying diamond drilling and cutting of concrete, remote control demolition and specialist concrete road surface preparation. We have ambitious plans to grow the business over the next 5 years and part of our growth strategy is to introduce new services that complement the core business.

Last year we introduced a new concrete scanning technology and service which has been received enthusiastically by customers. Whilst ferro magnetic scanning has been around for some time it has significant limitations and is consequently of limited use. New radar based technology can scan much deeper for services and rebar which offers new ways of applying the technology and delivering value to customers.

A base of customers and sales has been established and we now want to take the project forward. The potential is not only to generate sales from scanning services but to also generate more opportunities for our core business.

We now wish to bring in someone who will take over the hands on delivery of the scanning services and, working with our commercial and sales people help develop the commercial potential of this technology. This will involve:

  • Interpreting customer requirements and carrying out the scanning on site. Doing the scanning hands on is necessary in the short term in order to gain a thorough understanding of the technology and its capabilities. As demand from customers grows it is possible that the scanning work will be handed over to others.
  • Providing verbal and written reports to customers as required
  • Contribute to the development of smarter ways of producing reports from the scanning data
  • Demonstrating to customers the full potential of the technology to provide them with valuable information and data – a customer education process
  • Assisting our commercial and sales teams in using the scanning services to create sales opportunities for our core services.

We believe that this position would be suitable for a graduate in a construction related discipline who will bring energy and a fresh perspective to what is a “pioneer proposition” in the construction industry. Any of the following would be suitable disciplines:

  • Structural and/or civil engineering
  • Building design and construction
  • Building services
  • Construction management
  • Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management

The position offers the opportunity to adapt and apply what you have learnt to the practical business of understanding customers’ needs, devising and delivering solutions and achieving both customer satisfaction and business success.

This is a career appointment for the right person which will open up further opportunities for them in our company from our growth strategy. It is also an opportunity to get a foot on the ladder in the construction industry and gain valuable and wide ranging experience using a new and exciting technology to create new opportunities.
